Who killed women's love of food? Eating disorders in women are often linked to the intensification of the thinness ideal in the 1970s, but this phenomenon, encouraged by the capitalist industry, is much older. From the myth of Eve, eternally subjected to male desire for having tasted the forbidden fruit, to the emergence of the first restaurants—reserved for men—and their exclusion from gastronomy, women seem condemned to cook and serve while starving themselves, to be housewives or gluttons while men are great chefs or gourmets. How did we disrupt women's appetites? How do contemporary feminist movements address the relationship to food and the body?

By delving into history and literature, and giving a voice to eaters from all walks of life, this embodied investigative narrative attempts to answer these questions and brings a few crumbs of hope to a world of hungry people.
