In the 1970s, I was juggling three careers: mother of three, wife, and co-host of a daily radio show. How did I manage to balance my family and culinary responsibilities with my busy schedule? By humanizing the dishes from here and abroad that inspired me, making them easy to prepare, yet just as delicious. Then I compiled these recipes into a book, which quickly became a must-have for young and old alike.

At my last book signing, I had to send home some people whose original copies were so well-used they were ready to be replaced, because I ran out of books. It was at that moment that my publishing house decided to release the version you are holding in your hands, in order to introduce it to a new generation of readers.
