"When everything is going wrong, when there is anger or melancholy in the air, I turn on the oven, I whisk my eggs and sugar. I wait, calm, for the aromas of baking to fill the house and, finally, I am delighted, I am saved, by this something sweet, warm, that will be eaten in a little while."

Born in France to parents of Spanish origin born in Morocco, and having immigrated to Quebec at the age of six, she grew up in a rich environment of traditions and cultures, scents and flavors. In these "childhood and culinary tales," where we learn the secrets of broad beans with garlic, lemon, and cumin, of kémia (a type of appetizer), and of the two-egg cake, she pays homage to her large, scattered family, symbolically inviting them around a large table, offering them one of those moments that "transmit a memory." "It's my way of piecing things back together and, in a way, writing about my family. When I bring them together, I come together."
