This is the story of a little girl who, every day after school, rushes to her parents' restaurant, Au Bonheur . There, she does her homework, eats dinner, and, driven by boredom, begins to draw. Having become a recognized artist, she decides to record and illustrate her mother Liliane's recipes. Raised in a cosmopolitan environment, Liliane grew up in Cambodia, which she fled when the Khmer Rouge entered Phnom Penh. Since then, she has tirelessly sought to recreate the flavors of her childhood, asking this chef for the secret of their lôc lac, that of that aunt for her pho. This book is the culmination of this long transmission and these geographical wanderings. It was born from a fierce desire to pass on a family and traditional know-how: the pursuit of the perfect flavor, the right techniques, and the best practices.
